Cybercriminals are increasingly exploiting the fact that people spend a great deal of time on social networking sites, such as Facebook. The scam is a simple one: attackers place harmful links in targeted places on Facebook and similar sites, with the aim of luring users to contaminated websites.
21% of all harmful links were discovered by Kaspersky Lab experts on social networking sites, with Facebook and its Russian clone, VKontakte, leading the way. In comparison, just 14% of harmful links were found on X-rated sites.
Apparently, video sites like YouTube are also infected with harmful links.
