Fan runs intermittently after Vista SP1 installation

Several days ago, after installing Vista SP1, the fan on my notebook starts then stops about every two minutes. It runs for no more than a second or two, but it keeps starting and stopping. This wasn't happening prior to the installation of SP1. I was wondering if anyone else has seen this happen? I am running Vista Ultimate with 2G of ram and the aero interface turned off. I haven't tried uninstalling SP1 yet, I was hoping to find a solution before doing that since Vista does run a little better with it installed - especially moving and copying files from one disc or partition to another. Anyway, this is my first post, so thanks for checking it out. If anyone needs more info, please let me know. Thanks, again.

Laptops usually have a control for the fan operations -- often associated with the OEM software.

My Toshiba does and the fan toggles on/off as needed (to save the battery).
IMO, SP1 just enabled the OEM control to start working as it should have been all along.
