First pics of FarCry with PS 3.0

    Picture 1 : Before / After

    Picture 2 : Before / After

    Pictures taken from -> Pcper.com

PS. The before pics are from FarCry running PS 1.x shaders so the effect probably won't be that groundbreaking going from 2.0 shaders on an ATI board to 3.0 shaders on the GF 6800.

I'd seen this on the Future mark forum.
Apparently Nvidia had the PS1.0 pictures marked as PS2.0. More controvesy surrounding Nvidia again

    FarCry on PCI...

I run FarCry on PCI baby. I got a new HP ($1100) with ONLY a PCI slot. HP will do that to ya if you don't do your homework... I'm tryin to figure a way to fix that for cheap (PC is 40 days old, model HP Pavilion a424x) got a a550e with AMD64, good audio/graphics and by goda AGP 8x port! Wow!?!

My PCI machine runs 2.6Ghz, P4, 512 ram with a VisionTek 256MB Radeon 9200 PCI TVout card. Awesome... on low . I CAN'T EVEN GO TO MEDIUM ON A $1100 HP! HAHAHA. It's really not funny. PCI sucks at graphicstuff. Welp, onto my 3200 AMD64...

    HAHAHA...:(

Any suggestions on a new motherboard for a new HP? Can I put my old Pentium4 2.6GHz into a new mobo? THANKS and enjoy...

That pic makes me want a new graphics card. I thought my 9700 Pro was ok for now, but, WOW, I don't see anything that compares with that on my machine.

    Re: FarCry on PCI...

The problem with your PC performance for running the game is the videocard, I'm impressed how those 256mb can usually mislead a lot of buyers, the video chipset you have (Radeon 9200) is at the bottom of the Radeon line, to give you a good example of what I'm talking about, a 128mb Radeon 9600 can perform twice as fast, RAM amount is not the most important factor for gaming.

As for that shot from HardOCP, that was an user submit (joke)... unfortunately we are not there yet, that's an actual photo with some Photoshop work on it.

    Best Video Card for FarCry???

Can anyone provide an analytical method to determine the best videocard for FarCry?

Just finished Far Cry- ending *spoiler*

How 'bout that ending?! Not what I expected.

He gets off the island, and while on the boat administers the antidote to the girl. She recovers while she looks over at a script of 'Far Cry'. That's it! Yehaa!

It's true about video card memory. I was duped first time around buying a 128mb 9200se because it has 128mb of memory, it ran perhaps a tad faster than my 32mb video card. Chipsets make a big difference. I was going to buy a 256mb ATI Radeo X700 Pro for my new computer, when I did some reading. I actually went for a 128mb nVidia GeForce 6600GT instead, and wow does it handle the graphics of whatever I throw at it, at high settings. Far Cry, Doom III, Half Life II, BF Vietnam all on the highest settings run smooth. Just do some reading of reviews, memory is not the sole reason to get a new card. Look at bandwidth (64bit or 256 bit), core clock speed, effective memory clockspeed, actual structure of the card (vertical pipelines), even the heatsink fan. 256mb does not necessarily mean good.
  12. To tell you guys the truth, I dont know whats all the hype about Far Cry.
I have playd it and its only a o.k game. Nothing groundbreaking.

    Half-Life 2

Yeah, after playing HL2, Far Cry cannot even compare to HL2 as far as variation in gameplay and story. But Far Cry is still beautiful in many areas, especially the outdoor scenes.

I thought Jack would get to "do" Val at the end for sure. What a ****ty ending.

    Full agreement with (=DoM=)

Far Cry is an absolutely stunning game. I've played through several times since the game came out in early 2004 and I've enjoyed it every single time. Currently playing through on Veteran skill level with a newer pc and it looks and plays great. Full settings on 1280 x 1024, including custom anisotropic filtering set through the system.cfg, using a dual-core 4800 Athlon and SLi configuration GeForce 7800GTX.

I always thought the best single player game was Doom II, but I'm a very weird guy. :approve: Also, since it's so incredibly easy to mod, it adds fuel to the flame.

    Weird guy...

Doom II was great. I still have a play at all 3; Ultimate Doom, Doom II and Final Doom from time to time - they look like crap but they're still fun, lol.

Yes, I agree FarCry is quite good.
I hold games like Doom3 and Half-Life2 at a higher standard.
Also I feel cheated, because there is a much improved version of FarCry we will never see on PC, called FarCry: Instincts, solely for Xbox.
It has much better stealth, and it has new abilities called 'feral abilities', because it seems to go off on an alternate path where you are captured by the commandos and you play as a feral half-tryjan in this one!!!
    Its so cool!

I've had Far Cry for a couple of months now. Haven't installed it yet, but I've had it for a couple of months. :) Perhaps it's time.

i grab my ak-47 and keep running through the apartmenthouse shooting pointlessly for no reason. *ratatatatatatata* *pouwpouwpouw*

I never really liked Far Cry. I think the Unreal series and Halo are much better.
