It's true about video card memory. I was duped first time around buying a 128mb 9200se because it has 128mb of memory, it ran perhaps a tad faster than my 32mb video card. Chipsets make a big difference. I was going to buy a 256mb ATI Radeo X700 Pro for my new computer, when I did some reading. I actually went for a 128mb nVidia GeForce 6600GT instead, and wow does it handle the graphics of whatever I throw at it, at high settings. Far Cry, Doom III, Half Life II, BF Vietnam all on the highest settings run smooth. Just do some reading of reviews, memory is not the sole reason to get a new card. Look at bandwidth (64bit or 256 bit), core clock speed, effective memory clockspeed, actual structure of the card (vertical pipelines), even the heatsink fan. 256mb does not necessarily mean good.
