sorry was a broken link

http://www.silicongalaxy.org/drivers/firmware/teac/teac-dv-w58e-firmware-1-01./download

After your cd player firmware is updated

1. Click Start, select Find or Search, then click Files and folders.
2. Type dsiz23us.exe in the search field, then click Find Now. This will locate the dsiz23us.exe file you just downloaded.
3. Double-click the dsiz23us.exe icon.
4. Click Next. Read the license agreement.
5. Click I accept the terms in the license agreement.
6. Click Next.
7. Ensure that "Save files in folder" is set to C:\IBMTOOLS\DRIVERS\DSIZ23US.
8. Click Next.
9. Follow the onscreen prompts to complete the installation. Shutdown and restart your system when the installation is complete.

That should do it.

I ran that and could not get it to recognize the driver file. I looked at one of the files that in added updater dvw58 and it said will only work on xp and win2000.

Where I don't have a volume control or playback devices, can the cd be set up yet?

sorry this took so long, but I wanted to make sure you had all the proper firmware and chipset drivers before reinstalling the audio driver

plus i think im a little rusty on these older systems

No Problem
I am not sure what is happening
No ound, no volume control icon, no playback devices. Last download not recognized.I am going to walk back through the steps and see if I missed something.

I didn't mean that to sound as bad as it did.
As far as deleting ac97 I just went into Device manager and removed it from the list and restarted and now soundmax is listed.

Still not working. My soon has to get on it do some work, as some of it involves audio, I am have to put it back like it was so that he can hear,
Thanks for all the help

To be honest that is what i would do, then I would get a new cd-rom which will come with an install cd - Not same brand TEAC has horrible support - you can pick up a decent RW for $10-$15
