Flashing Lines on Start Up, then Blank Screen. Help!

Last night my 2 year old Alienware Area-51 laptop froze while running World of Warcraft. After a few minutes it switched to a blue screen of death with a grid of horizontal and vertical flashing white lines all over it. The text itself was distorted and difficult to read. Within a couple of seconds the screen went blank. I restarted my computer and when it booted up the same grid was on my frozen desktop. A few seconds later, the screen went black again. I am running Windows XP, and I was able to boot in safe mode without the grid. I attempted a system restore to last month, but as soon as I booted in regular mode again, the flashing lines were back. Does anyone know what's going on?

My guess is a video issue.
-Try, if you can, rolling back your video card drivers to a previous version in the Device Manager.

-Did you try calling Alienware Customer Service?
