Fresh install of windows for new motherboard?

  1. ok, here is my question, i'm upgrading to a Asus Striker Extreme 680i from my old P5N-E SLI, and i was wondering would i need a fresh window install in order for my computer recognize the new board? and also would drivers need to be re-installed again?

    You could probably get it to "recognize" the board's devices in the sense that it would realize they're there and perhaps try to install drivers for them. However, it is highly recommended that you reinstall Windows upon replacing the motherboard.

    Personally I haven't had a problem when doing that.... but it could cause trouble somewhere down the road
