My G drive not showing up in my Mac Book Pro. It is detected in utilities. Is there a way I can back up the contents please ?

I know this is a late response but I'm going to answer anyway just incase this comes up in a search at some point.

OS X (and things outside of Windows) do not letter drives, so that G drive is really just a Windows creation, the rest of the systems will see that as a mounted drive. So what I'm trying to say is "G" doesn't mean anything to OS X (unless you actually titled the drive/partition "G").

In Disk Utility you can mount the drive if OS X can read the file system of the drive/partition. Before trying to do that I'd just try and connect it to a Windows machine and see if all is well. Even if something is wrong with the drive, Windows has a bunch of utilities that are better (or at least free) to work on and try and recover any files you need.
