G31T-M7 Motherboard anomaly

I have just set up a new system using the above motherboard. Initially, I had a 500gb IDE hdd, and a dvd. I used the correct jumper settings on each, but the BIOS recognised the set-up as third primary and slave. I decided to use a SATA hdd, and now the BIOS recognises it secondary slave, and the dvd, jumpers set to master and plugged into the IDE, as third primary. Any ideas as to why?

I have once experienced this on the Asus P4P800-VM.
All you have to do is to enter the BIOS, and in the screen you see the HDDs/DVDs(usually Main), select the option "IDE Configuration" (or anything similar) and set the "Enhanced Mode On" setting to "SATA".
