Gamecube -vs- XBox -vs- PS2

How can you possibly say that the XBOX is more powerful than the Gamecube?

First of all look at the difference in L2 cache XBOX:128kb Gamecube:256kb.

Second, the XBOX has a 32 bit processor, the Gamecube has a 64 bit.

Third, clock speed isn't all their is to a processor, My friends Athlon running at 2.6ghz could beat my celeron,also running at 2.6 ghz, hands down.

Fourth, is their any proof that the XBOX is more powerful than the Gamecube? Have you seen any benchmarks? Anyway, even if microsoft did publish benchmarks comparing the two, the xbox would obviously come out top, when have microsoft ran a benchmark where their product hasn't come out top?

Come on guys, you can't possibly think that the xbox is more powerful, not with all that info. Plus, the Gamecube links to the GBA, HOW COOL IS THAT?

From a gamer standpoint there should be NO argumments.. if you're a true gamer, you own and love them all. End of story.

I love y GCube for the graphics and awesome Zelda/Metroid(2)/Res Evil, Tales of Symphonia etc...

I love my XBox for Riddick, Gladius, halo ninja gaiden (with the upcoming ninja gaiden re-visited 1.1 patch)/ Halo 2, etc.

and I love my PS2 for my RPG's and backwards compatibility... Final Fantasy VII, IX, etc, KingsField (my cult favorites) Grand Theft Auto and so many other awesome games, Psi-Ops included.

I know some of these are on multiple platforms, but I think I made my point.

Gamers should play games... not play yes it is, no it isn't....

The benifit of a console for developers is that the hardware is a known quantity. I think the bugs in pc games arise because of the complexity and variety of the hardware. You can patch xbox games via xbox-live, but seeing how MS controls it and was vehemently against the pc-patch-perception for their new console, I dont know of any- but they might of sneeked one in there with "additional content".

As for the relitive merits of the 3 systems- The PS2 is clearly outclassed grafix wise and sound wise by the other 2, but has a butt-load of games (who has the time?). The Gcube has excellent gfix (no dvd though) and I believe is capable of in-game 5.1. But the xbox's hd, on-line out of the box, excellent 5.1, and progressive scan and hdtv support. So they charge for the stinking remote- boo freakin hoo- the ps2 may play them out of the box, but the quality is crap and no 5.1. ....and well, there's this game called Halo.

I cant understand why so many people havnt chosen PS2, All the classics that has produced. Alot of the games that come out on Xbox and Gamecube were started on the PlayStation, for example Resident Evil was made big of playstation, Tekken, Gran Turismo along with the GTA's. I'll always choose Playstation becasue of its heritage and the vast number of amazing games you can get with it. Most new big title games that come out now are first devoleped for the PS2 before the Xbox and GC. I don't know about you lot but when i hear the word console i instantly think PS or PS2. I've played on an Xbox and i just dont like the layout of the controller, the PS2 controller, which is similar to the classic SNES is perfectly designed in my opinon. Plus its backward compatability and DVD capabilities make it my choice. However, ever since i got a decent PC my consoles have been packed away, although i sometimes get my SNES out of a retro gaming marathon on Steet Fighter 2 Turbo.

PS2 is old hardware. I am excited to see what Sony comes up with for the PS3 now that they have a little competition. Should be all good for gamers.

I happen to like the xbox far better than any others...internal storage, better graphics...All around a better machine.

The PS2's have real dependability issues a bunch of my friends ps2's lasers went out right at about a year after getting them.

Gamecube is alright, but kinda being phased out.

I don't know why anyone would like the ps2 controller so much, it's the most uncomfortable and ackward controller I've seen, right after the GC controller.

Like others have mentioned, the xbox is by far the most powerful of the 3 systems, and the most feature-packed out of the box. I see many arguing about the great ps2 and gc games, well, the xbox has some great games as well. There are 3 things that have me stuck on the xbox: unmatched graphic quality, great 5.1 sound, and Xbox Live multiplayer games. ps2 and gc can't even hold up a candle to that. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

In the end, it's not something worth arguing, buy what you like best. However, try all 3 systems for a while before making your decision.

The newer XBox Controller is a lot better in design, try that one out, the original was DEFINITLEY cumbersome, like playing games with a giant burger...

It's hard to choose.... You should've put PC in there!


Okay the only reason I would buy an Xbox is for Halo and Halo 2 (And I'm pretty sure that Halo 2 will come out for computer in the next year or two, which I can wait for!) and the only reasons I have a PS2 is for Metal Gear Solid and GTA! Can't wait till the 3rd Metal Gear Solid comes out! It looks awesome.

Most of the games that are supposed to be 'exclusive' to a certain console end up coming out for others when they stop selling on their original console. MGS2 did, Splinter Cell did, Halo did. I suppose in the end it comes down to either sentimental reasons, practicality or technical prowess. This is just like all the other Intel vs AMD, ATI vs Nvidia arguments, there is always so little between the conpetition and no matter what you choose you end up loosing out or gaining very little.

True... But it makes sense for Halo to come out for computer, since it's a Microsoft based game.

you know people thinks sonys bad and all that and thinks they deserve resident evil more then gamecube and crap and blah blah people also say xbox is better oh yea only better in power thats all people cares about is power well i dont need a xbox i love my gamecube and pc my pc has 2500 mhz now thats power xbox dont have crap on that anyway xbox hardly even has rpg games now they have halo2 and halo i wont diss them games there great i wont lie but its gonna come on pc later on which will be much better then being on xbox so i can wait and be happy with my gamecube oh and btw stop giving sony alot of respect gees u think there god like or something?they dont even have tales of symphonia!!!oh yea final fantasy your gonna tell me haw haw well gamecube will get them to so...
