Games Suddenly Crash

I don't think it was causing overheating. What it does is slow the cpu down a considerable amount when you are doing simple things like browsing the net. When playing a game I think it kicks in sometimes when it thinks there is not much going on, causing the game to crash. In other words, it's not perfect.

If you do use it though it will lower your cpu temps by a considerable amount, maybe five degrees or so. It might not cause a problem while playing games for everybody, but it did for me. I shut it off, no more problems.

hmmm, battlefield 2 crashed twice last night. Diagonal bands appeared across the screen once (in like greys), and once, it froze and some pizels were funny colours

Just tried map editing in UT2004, a simple room with a light and playerstart, and UT bailed out after a few seconds, maybe 30secs, if that. Once with the diagonal bands, the other time it just crashed. The second time though, when my PC was booting, it got stuck at the graphics card info (before you see the BIOS screen and it detects drives etc)

i think turning cool n quiet off has helped, but not completely solved the problem

ok, just run an openGL benchmark. Crashed quite a way in. Just froze, then rebooted. I have already tried this benchmark before turning cool n quiet off, it crashed again, on the same benchmark as what this crashed on. Its just this time, it crashed earlier on the test.

Any other ideas anyone?

I say the next thing to start looking at is your ram. Have you run memtest already?

ive run prime95 for a while with no errors

Anyway, ive just installed some modded drivers (xtreme G ones i think) so im going to see if that solves anything

TBH, it seems more stable so far.....

well, UT keeps crashing after a few seconds on my level (walls, ceiling, floor, light, playerstart, not really a resourcehog is it?)

also, for some reason, while i was using the start menu to find the battlefield 2 uninstall shortcut, it crashed. Im wondering if its memory now...going to run memtest+ overnight
