I am trying to help my sister-in-law with her laptop issues. She has a Gateway that runs Windows Vista. The computer states that is connected to the internet, we have tried both wireless and an actual cable connection, but we can not surf the internet. We have tried the internet settings options, I ran her antivirus(AVG) and no luck.
I do however remember her stating that she had virus at one time. Her AVG had not been ran in over 6 months.
I even downloaded something called WinsockxpFix on my desktop, put it on a cd and then tried running it on the laptop. It didn't help.
I am not very computer tech savvy, but she doesn't have the money to take it in and have a professional look at it.
Any idea's?
