Ok, I have a Gateway laptop that needs XP Home SP2 reinstalled. The laptop has a newer Hard Drive (non-factory) that has XP Home already Installed. The OS is not working and I would just like to reinstall the Windows.

I don't have a recovery disk and it no longer has the original Gateway hard drive.

Can I use a regular copy of XP Home to reinstall the Windows? The laptop has a product key on the back.

Will I need to get the drivers off the net? Or will they be ok?

    Thanks for your help.

if you have a legal copy of the windows os version you want to install and the laptop is the only computer you install(ed) it then I don't see a license problem for you.
you probably need to download a set of drivers. I would do that anyway just to make sure....
