Geeks can't fix

I use Uniblue and several of it's applications. Beyound my better judgement I downloaded a very old driver that controlled the mouse and key board. Once down loaded I couldn't use either.
I tried mulitple times to start in safe mode. However the desktop would only say loading windows. It could never go past it. I use windows xp on a system I build 2 years ago.
The geek squard is telling me my harddrive crashed. I am second guessing them for the simple fact I believe they are going the easy way to fix it.
I can start the computer in safe mode with no problem. The problem comes when it
goes to load windows xp. If I choose to load from command prompt and ask me if I want to be administrator or "dad". I can't click on either because the keyboard is inop and so is mouse..
Any suggestions on what I should do ?
