  1. i just purchased a 6800gt for my 1 year old comp,(athlon +2600, 512 ram,) and when i put the new video card in and fire up the comp, i get black screen and a loud beep.
i more than meet all the requirements for the card , including 450v power really lost and my semi-uber computer skills cant get me out of this one.

What video did you have prior to the 6800?

Do you have a connection going from your power supply directly to the graphics card? If you don't, then that is your problem. ;)
