Get BSOD on start up

Hey guys my Dell XPS 420 was having trouble installing a windows vista service pack since I recently reformatted. No matter if I boot it from safe mode or pop in the windows recovery disk I always get a BSOD so I'm pretty much stuck.

the BSOD reads when I try to boot off the recovery disk: Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. disable BIOS memory option such as caching or shadowing. (I don't know how to do)

It advises me to go into safe mode but the same issue occurs.

Technical information: *** STOP: 0x0000c1f5 (0x0*8), (0x0*8), (0x0*8), (0x0*8)

Any help will be appreciated :)

Try the Vista re-install again, but make sure you have no USB devices attached other than the mouse when you start the install. You may have a bad memory stick
