  1. Google's next version of its mobile operating system, Android 3.0 (codenamed Honeycomb), just got a promotional video from the search giant itself. The video of the tablet-friendly OS was posted by the Android Developers account, but was then set to private. Thankfully it has been reuploaded all over the Internet so whether Google meant to post it or not, the video is now widely available.

Nah, I think they meant they built Honeycomb's GUI with Tablets in mind. I don't think Android releases will go separate ways (or separate markets) and then be merged later down the road. Android devices are already heavily segregated because of manufacturers; splitting the platform into different versions to different devices now, would be an stupid idea.

Idk Lawfer, even just from that video, I can see a lot of UI elements that just would not work on a screen smaller than around 7 inches. I see no problem if they have a tablet android and phone android.

I'd think it would at least be first released for tablets and _then_ for phones.

I mean why would Google want to have three different version of their OS (1 for laptops/PCs (Chrome OS), 1 for tablets (Android 3.x) and 1 for phones (Android 2.x))?

Eithery way, I'm glad they fixed the infamous SMS bug even before I managed to buy my Android device. If they even managed to release the releasee that has that fix it would be even better (e.g. this Android 3.0) :).

    Cheers!
