Google has released a platform preview for Android 3.0 (codenamed Honeycomb) and an updated set of SDK tools. The new version includes a refined UI framework for large-screen devices plus various tablet-centric tweaks, as well as a new animation framework, support HTTP Live Streaming, multi-core processors, high-quality 2D and 3D graphics, Bluetooth A2DP, and HSP. There's also encrypted storage, password expiration, and e-mail.

Do we know if Honeycomb is coming to actual mobile devices?

No, we don't know what's gonna be the next one for mobile devices. We just know that Gingerbread won't be the last one.
  4. Actually, there is at least one tablet already available that will run Honeycomb.

The Viewsonic G Tablet has a dual-core Tegra processor and nvidia GPU that (I understand) will be a perfect match for requirements. Of course what is actually available right now is just the pre-release SDK, and it is only running (so far) in an emulator.

But just give the brilliant folks at xda-developers.com a few days and I bet we will see something concrete.

The G Tablet is, without doubt, the most hackable Android tab out there.

Yeah, if it's the only one it makes it kinda inevitable :D.
