Google and Samsung have rescheduled their Ice Cream Sandwich event that was postponed last week. The unveiling will now take place on October 19 in Hong Kong, or October 18 at 10pm ET in the US due to the time zone difference.

The two tech companies originally sent out a teaser video on October 4, the same day that Apple unveiled the iPhone 4S. The video pointed to October 11 at the CTIA fall event in San Diego as the platform to introduce Ice Cream Sandwich and what many believe will be the first phone to launch with ICS, Samsung’s Nexus Prime.

One day later, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs died after an eight year battle with cancer which prompted Google and Samsung to postpone the planned event.

“Samsung and Google have decided to postpone the Samsung Mobile Unpacked event during the CTIA in San Diego, previously scheduled for Oct. 11,” Samsung said in a statement. “Under the current circumstances, both parties have agreed that this is not the appropriate time for the announcement of a new product.”

Android fans can now pencil in next Tuesday / Wednesday on their calendar as we once again anticipate Ice Cream Sandwich and the Nexus Prime unveiling. Leaked specs last week point to a 9mm thin device with a 4.65-inch curved glass Super AMOLED HD display running at 1280x720 resolution, a TI OMAP 4460 dual-core Cortex A9 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, 1GB of RAM, 32GB of on-board storage, a 5MP rear camera and a front 1.3MP shooter, 1080p video capture, LTE / HSPA support depending on carrier, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, NFC and a 1,750 mAh battery.

BGR has also confirmed that the OS will be a pure Google device, meaning no fancy third-party UI or other modifications to ICS. Furthermore, they believe that the Galaxy Nexus will be a Verizon Wireless exclusive.
