Every Google employee will be getting a free Nexus S handset running the company's latest Android operating system. The device went on sale in the US last week and in the UK this week. As a result, it's not completely clear whether employees from around the world will get the device at the same time, according to Delimiter.

Google reportedly gave some of its employees the HTC Dream handset, one of the first Android handsets, when it launched in late 2008, and earlier this year, Google gave all of its Indian employees a Nexus One, which was also developed by HTC and is the predecessor to the Nexus S.

The Nexus S is the first device to ship with Android 2.3. Google and Samsung developed the product together to highlight the latest advancements of the Android platform. As the Nexus One before it, the Nexus S delivers a "pure Google" experience: an unlocked device that is the first to get the latest updates to Google's mobile services and Android releases. The Nexus S features a 4" Contour Display, a 1GHz Hummingbird processor, front and rear facing cameras, 16GB of internal memory, and NFC hardware that lets you read information from NFC tags on objects like movie posters, stickers, and t-shirts.

Is this really news? I mean, one would expect as much... Like:

"This just in: Dunkin' Donuts' employees get free donuts!"

Not only is it a freebie, but it's like one of the most coveted smartphones in the market now. Great to be a Google employee.

Say what you will but Google could do like many other companies and not give anyone anything.

On the heals of,I believe it was a $1000 dollar bonus and a 10% raise for all employees, I say this pretty good.

Man, bonuses? I've only heard of those mythical things.

Although I have some philosophical differences with them, maybe I should look into Google for my next job!

Not even remotely... It doesn't even have an SD slot and it runs on hardware that will be outdated by January.

@fpsgamerJR62 In order for this phone to be the most coveted phone in the US it would need to be CDMA. Instead its limited to T-Mobile and ATT.
