It looks like we won’t be seeing too many Google TV-powered devices at CES next month. After making somewhat of a weak debut in the U.S. earlier this year, Google is reportedly asking partners who planned to showcase the technology at the upcoming event to hold off their introductions as it works on some refinements to make the platform more appealing. So far only Sony and Logitech have launched Google TV products, but several others were supposed to join the party.
The delay doesn’t bode well for Google’s foray into consumers’ living rooms, and marks yet another setback for the company after a number of content providers blocked access to their shows on Google TV devices. Samsung and Vizio are still supposed to reveal their Google TV devices at CES, the latter only in private meetings with members of the press, but apparently we’ll have to wait a little longer for devices from Toshiba, Sharp and LG.
Google released an update for Google TV last week that addressed some of the more common user complaints. The next update will probably mean the addition of the Android Market and should arrive sometime in 2011.
