Close to a year after releasing it on Android, Google has launched its Chrome Remote Desktop app for iOS, allowing users of Apple's mobile operating system to remotely control their PC, Mac, or Chromebook using their smartphone or tablet.
Aside from letting you remotely access your computer from your iPhone or iPad, the app can also be used to give a friend temporary access to your desktop so they can help you solve a computer problem.
For the app to work, you need to first install and run through the setup for the Chrome Remote Desktop browser extension, which is available as a free download from the Chrome Web Store, on every computer you want to access remotely. Once the setup is complete, just open the new iOS app and tap on any of your online computers to establish a connection.
Google officially launched the Chrome Remote Desktop extension back in October 2012, prior to which it was in beta stage. At that time, the service only allowed you to remotely access your Macs and PCs from other desktop computers.
The Chrome Remote Desktop app for iOS is now available for download from the Apple App Store -- it is rolling out slowly, so you may have to wait a bit before it becomes available in your country.
