Graphic Card Problem

Ok recently my cousin got me a new compaq computer. Somehow it got a virus on it and I was forced to re-install my Operating System. He had also installed a new video card in the PCI bus slot. Now I have a problem. My graphics only go up to 16bit! The screen is all fuzzy and i can barely read this page. I don't know how to find out what software I need to download off the internet to get it to work.

Any Ideas? I mainly need to find out how to identify what my gfx card is called with it not being installed and not opening the computer case.

PCI bus slot? Or do you mean AGP slot?

Click Start/Settings/Control Panel and then double-click System.
Under the Hardware tab click Device Manager. In there you will find a Heading "Display Adapters". Click on the + sign before it, then you will see what graphics card you have.

If there are any yellow question marks or red exclamation marks at all in your Device Manager, write them down and report here.

Also give us the exact type/model of your PC and what Windows version you run.
