Had to reinstall XP - No sound

Reinstalled XP on the computer have most things working.. but in the Computer's System Information I have no sound device. With that i'm pretty sure you can guess I have no sound.
Any ideas on how I can get it back? I know I need the drive but Im not sure what it is or where to get it.

On the assumption that you are using onboard sound, go to the Compaq website for the sound driver. You can confirm that it is onboard sound by looking at the back of the computer and seeing if the sound ports are part of the I/O connectors (i.e. USB, PS/2, ethernet, printer port, etc.).

If none of those work, try start >run>services.msc and make sure it's not disabled here. Just set it to automatic.
