One of the biggest console releases of the year has finally received its launch date: Halo 5: Guardians will officially hit Xbox One on October 27th, as revealed in the latest live-action trailer for the game.

Halo 5 was first announced in May 2014 after a series of teasers in the lead up to the launch of the Xbox One. The game is being developed by 343 Industries, a Microsoft-owned studio that worked on the previous entry in the series, Halo 4.

There aren't too many details on what the single-player campaign in Halo 5 will contain, other than it's a direct sequel to Halo 4. The game is expected to be a "bigger effort than Halo 4", and will run at 60 FPS on the Xbox One with dedicated server support.

Some gamers have already had access to a Halo 5 multiplayer beta, which concluded on January 18th this year and will hopefully help 343 Industries launch the game smoothly. So long as a repeat of the Master Chief Collection launch is avoided, Halo fans will be happy.

It's expected that more will be revealed about Halo 5 at E3 2015 in June, ahead of the October 27th launch.

I ran through the Halo games like most people. But if you go back and read the stories(summarized) its actually really good. Similar to the Mass Effect story(in some ways) which I feel was explained better. Halo 5 should be pretty good. Hopefully multiplayer will be better than 4.
