Hard drive has strange sound

    I have a raptor 36gb hd,it makes a sound like pinging a crystel wine glass.It dosen,t do it constanly but 4or five times every hour.It just started this about 2 mounths ago,the hard drive is about a year old. I can,t figure it out thanks

    it's quite possible the drive is failing. have you encountered and errors or bsod's relating to the drive or it's files? perhaps a part of your case is rattling, that can be checked by temporarily duct taping any parts that may rattle down (just don't overdo it or block airflow) and noting whether the problem persists.

    Tighten the screws holding it in also...harmonic distortion can take some wierd forms.
    But start backing up immediately just in case.
