Hard drive issue or me?

hi i recently brought 2 WD 1.5TB 3.5" Hard Drive - SATA-II 5400rpm 32MB Cache - Caviar Green OEM and pluged them into my system but it both seems to be a dud. in my bios it auto detects the hard drives but then i get a primary slave drive and/or secondary slave drive error. when i try to enter my bios is freezes or just keeps restarting. i tested each drive and keep getting the same error. any help? much appreciate.

Have made sure the jumpers are in the right setting they should in cable select for both drives.

under Bios: goto to harddrive and make sure is set to SATA

in my bios it is already set to SATA and i already have 2 500gb hard drive installed and working, does that mean i should still change the jumper setting?
