Hard drive performance figures

  1. my HDD is using it's full potential of speed? It's a Maxtor 6Y080M0 connected via SATA to my Abit IS7-E mobo.

    Everest's HDD buffered read goes up to 115 MB/s and the linear and random are at about 45 MB/s.

    You dig up your drive specifications from Maxtor and see. (You have to dig hard, since no HD maker wants you to see all the specs :p )

    As the product manual says, the sustained transfer rate is between 37 and 67 fake megabytes per second. Looks OK to me. Buffered read is more difficult to compare, since it depends on your system load and the exact methodology Everest uses..
