    When I boot up my computer I get the following message

    Pri Master Hard disk; S.M.A.R.T. Status BAD, back up and replace

    Press F10 to resume

    The 1st time this occured was after a virus attempted to invade my PC. I have done a virus check with no apparent viruses?

    My questions are;

    1) Is this a result of the virus?

    or

    2) Do I need a new Hard drive?

    any ideas/advice?

    Thanks

    No, a virus did not do this. Yes, it does look like the drive is bad.

    do what the instructions tell you to do. when S.M.A.R.T. tells you the hard drive is bad, your hard drive is probably going to die really soon. backup your important data quickly.
