Hard Drive Question

  1. The motherboard on my daughter's laptop was damaged so I removed the hard drive and placed it in an external case, so I could move files. I seem to be able to access the folders on the hard drive EXCEPT the one where the data is. I get an Access is Denied error message. I suspect this has something to do with password protection. Can anyone suggest a way to determine why I can't access the folder and how I can get to the data?

    Thanks... Barry
