hard drive wont format

    i am trying to reformat a hard drive that waS FULL of malware but it keeps stalling out at 20%???!

    i am not sure why

    any suggestions or is it just messed up???

    Could be a bad hard drive.
    Do you have a floppy drive on that computer, and access to a Windows 98 floppy boot/startup disc?
    If so, remove and reinstall the partitions... remember that the FAT32 floppy will not recognise the partition of NTFS, so you select the final option.
    If you cannot do the above, you need to attempt to do a clean format that also restores the partition.
    What is the brand and model of computer? Are you using a recovery disc, a hidden partition, or a full version of Windows XP?
