Can anyone help me figure this out?

I just installed a Maxtor 80gb HD as a primary slave. When I loaded xp, it reads that my c: drive as only 31gb. I deleted the partition and reinstalled the os and the same thing happens.

    Help Me Please!

    What's your drive config?

What drive are you using as a primary/master? If your new 80GB is a slave drive it should show up as drive D:, assuming you have a two drive configuration.

None..Didn't think it mattered..That's what a comp. tech told me..Do you think it'll make a difference?

Can you see the drive in Windows at all? New drives often come unpartitioned. In order for you to do anything with them in Windows you will need it to have at least 1 partition. Maxblast will partition and format the drive for you. Or you could also let Windows do it on the install, if you boot from the Windows install CD.

    I finally figured it out

I set the hd to master as well as my cdrom drive then i reinstalled windows and it worked! I guess it was the settings after all..

    Thanks
