I tried the forums but was unable to find anything help full in this issue so posting it now.
My secondary 80GB SG Barracuda is gone crazy. the problem is that the HDD gets undetected when its being written. If I copies anything from it or in it (any partition) it vanishes from windows and even from bios. After a couple of minutes I can re-detect it from the device manager. and its fine till I try to access it. After trying so many things I was able to copy data from 1 partition with old DOS based ghost.exe, by making image of the partition.
I'll salvage the data by using ghost but can my hard drive get repaired?

Try using a different data cable and host adapter on the motherboard. If neither of those show improvement, your drive has probably taken a dive toward the worst.
