    Hi gonggirl
Lots of writing and Reading !

Anyway without reading it twice, all is OK ?

As for my country I normally don't say (you don't say)
But I'm pretty sure it's the same as yours
Anyway CPU, nah, I still think the video card did all this

I really think it is something else, as it happened this afternoon again, after the computer locked up again loading all my programs, I have now deleted a few, after locking up I would hav to reboot by turning the main power point off and on again and everytime I do this it brings the Pentium 4 screen up, I leave it for around 2 hours as I have just done then it boots up ok, seems like it needs to cool down, just my thinking anyway as the video drivers and everything are A ok now now wavy screens or anything, resolution is good but problem still exists when rebooting after a lockup so i don't know, when i get time I'll reseat the CPU.

Can you try to run your computer off the Net (actually fully disabled from the net) I wonder if it locks up then.
This may in fact not be a local problem with your computer

It has happened twice today and both times I haven't had a modem hooked up so I wasn't hooked up to the net, only because of my modem woes, there were a lot of programs trying to load all at once I have just now deleted a few as they were all trying to load on startup.

    Can be used for that.

I have read through all the posts plus also read through your 2 earlier posts, and I believe we have covered 99% of everything except Clean Install.

Is this an option for you, backup everything
Fully remove partition and format, then re-install Windows (Drivers as well)
I say this because, this will prove if it is hardware or software straight away.

I think this is your best option (usually the entire process including Windows Updates; Adobe; Office other - will take around 4 + hours)

What do you think ? Otherwise 12 + Hours from now we may still be banging our heads ! (nice pun)

I have thought about that, and a friend suggested that, as I have quite a few programs on here, i've done it twice before and it probably needs to be done if the problem keeps occuring I guess, just a bit of a pain, but so has the last 3 days been.

A billion hey, can you hard wire connect (ethernet cable) to your modem

I don't know what you mean by hard wire connect but it connects to the internet by way of all the lights on the modem are on full and strong it just denies me access as it is not configured properly and it won't let me do it, I have now put a claim in with "Billion" I don't have the receipt but they said they willl check the serial number for warranty purposes, so fingers crossed maybe my luck is changing, I don't think it can be fixed anyway else, thx

Just letting you know my router problem, it has fixed itself, I tried late last night for the lucky last time, after I had tried all methods for about 20 times, but I think because I had disconnected the modem from all power and from my computer because I used another modem temporarily it must have fixed itself, the only difference between last night and the day before was I never disconnected it from my computer tower so I'm putting it down to that I guess, but I put the info in last night and it accepted it and I'm using it now. Maybe my luck has started to change for 2008, after taking off some of the startup programs yesterday the computer seemed to load up pretty good this morning. I'd just like to give a big THANK YOU to Kimsland and to Raybay for all your help and advice and all the time they have taken to help me on these matters, Have a Great 2008, I'm sure I'll be back soon with more dramas......lol.. Thank you all for helping and taking the time to look.
