Help for free webcam driver

I want to install webcam in my pc .But i lost the installer cd.
Does anyone know where i can download a good free webcam driver?

The problem is i don't know how to find out the brand and model. My friend left it to me and didn't tell me the details.
He is now traveling abroad.Not convenient to contact.

I have tried three drivers.No one seems to recognize my webcam.

its tricky,

because drivers are made specific for the brand and model of your webcam.

What os do you have?

check the webcam for anything, a number, a name, anything.

Ahhh.. A long but very useful post.
