I need a Gigabit switch to connect another PC to the web. There are many kinds out there and i'm lost. After looking around i found out that the minimal number of ports that comes with one is 5, i only need 2 but i'll have to get that one cauise i got no choice. Anyway, i have the Verizon FIOS service and all PCs are behind the router using a wired connection. This is the diagram of my connection as of now:
Internet -- D-link wireless router -- Main PC on 1st floor
| - cable to second floor
|
RJ-45 wall mounted jack w/ 1 port -- My PC
Basically what i want to do is plug the switch into the RJ-45 jack to create 2 ports so i can hook up another PC to web in addition to the one i already have connected.
I need something that will support my 100Mbps internet connection. These are the top selling switches at newegg i've been looking at. Will any of them do the trick?
