Help me get the most from my router

I have a Linksys E2000 wireless N router.
Also picked up a Linksys Dual-Band Wireless-N Gaming Adapter for my PS3. (speeds off the N were awful due to the PS3 not having N capabilities)
Got a wifi card in the PC and will soon have a newer laptop.
Will I be getting the best out of the router with just plugging everything in and going or is there a way to set up the router and/or anything else to get max performance?

the Linksys E2000 and E3000 look like great routers, i want one to replace my old Linksys WRT150N v1.1 with DD-WRT. The Linksys E2000 is still new so i dont think i would even put DD-WRT or openwrt on it.
