Hello, I'm Pero from Croatia, I'm new here.

I have reinstalled WinXP 3 months ago, and until today everything was OK. 2 days ago i found "Generic Trojan" and deleted it. Everything was ok until this morning, when i saw message "AVG 7.5.488 reports that it is turned off". And then I started AVG somehow and i got information that I have partition table error and few more errors. Weird thing is that i lost all history and bookmarks from Mozilla Firefox at the same time.

Should I do 15 steps from Viruses/Spyware/Malware, preliminary removal instructions topic?

Does somebody know what is this AVG error?

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Uninstall AVG, then reinstall it. See if that fixes the AVG error message.

Very Important: Before deciding whether you should clean or reformat your system, go and read this thread HERE and decide what it is you want to do.

If after reading the above, you wish to clean your system, do the following.

Go and read the Viruses/Spyware/Malware, preliminary removal instructions. Follow all the instructions exactly.

Post fresh HJT, AVG Antispyware and Combofix logs as attachments into this thread, only after doing the above.

Also, let me know the results of the Panda Antirootkit scan.
