Help with Pragmatic D56RSN-A11N external serial modem

hi,

I've been trying to get my external serial modem working in both linux and windows. for some reason windows doesnt auto detect it when i boot or when i search for new modems. In linux, when i use PPPD, it says the modem does not respond. Can anyone offer me some help? Thanks

Ok, i just booted in kbuntu again, and this time when i tried to connect with pppd, it just sat there with "initializing modem" for ever. The TR light on my modem does come on when ever i try to connect.

For external modems in Windows, you need to install the correct modem drivers first. Then add the hardware. Make sure your COM ports are enabled in BIOS.

i've already tried searching for them extensively on the web. had no luck
do i need drivers to make it work in linux?

My link contains any number of drivers, don't know what your problem is.
