  1. :( ok so today i when out and bought a stick of 512 pc3200
ok so this is my problem before i had 2 sticks of pc2100 256
my mobo has two slots and thats it
so i took out one stick of pc2100 256 and stuckin the new 512 pc3200
and it boots up but when i look at my task manager it show me as only having 512 thas runnioing at pc 2100 speed 266
but if i go into system info it shows me as if i have 768 like i should but it also shows me as have 300 ram avaiable as if i still only had 512 i tryed swiching places but no luck
no i know some people say shouldnt mix difernt ram but i know you can it just lowers the clock speed of the higher ram ie my 512 3200 stick become 2100
just the other day my friend bougth another stick of 512 pc 3200 and he stuck it in there with a 512 pc 2100 it just underclocked his new 3200 to 2100
s oi know i can do this
but why is it not detecking it right can some one help me plz
my rig is chaintech mobo amd 64 2800+ so yes it will handle the 3200 ram

your memory controlelr could be lowering the speeds on account o the two modules being incompatible with each other. in any case, you need to check your bios settings for memory. everything should be set to 'auto', and if that doesn't fix anything you can try manually inputting your specs into said bios.
