Hi, external hard drive failure

Hello

I have problem with my external harddrive, i connect my hard drive with USB port and it showing the icon in my computer,but when i trying to opening it, an error message is showing G "/is not accessible, "the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable" so i cant open my hard drive. help me sir. i have lot of stuff in my hard drive

But for now, I'd suggest to run chkdsk on your drive as it may not be the drive itself that is corrupt but rather the file structure.

• Make sure your hard drive is plugged in
• Check what drive your external HDD is eg. D: or E:
• Access your command prompt by Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt
• Type chkdsk /f /r D: (if your directory path is D:, otherwise replace this with the correct path then press enter
• This scan will take around 45 mins to 1 hour depending on how many files you have or how much needs correcting

Note: You will not need to restart your machine for this

yes i did chkdsk after that now i can open my external hard drive by clicking right button and explore but when i try to open it by clicking left button of mouse it showing G: access denied why can u help me
