    Hi, I am new.... We just bought a laptop from my sister. It has vista home premium. I am getting the trojan.zlob-X.a popup I read the directions to run the hijack scan but when it goes to save the log in notepad it just comes up blank and there is nothing to see. I am just wondering what I am doing wrong so I can take care of this problem. Thanks.

    Yeah I named it crusty.exe and saved it to my desktop. I just did it on my other pc and it worked.

    Try reinstalling HijackThis and renaming it again on your system. You may download it from my signature.

    I did and it still won't work. I have vista on this. the note pad pops up ask if I want to create the file. I click yes and it gives me a blank doc, if I click no it closes.

    Try running a ComboFix scan then. Complete as much of the steps in preliminary removal thread sticky in this forum and attach the required logs.
