I need help with my Gateway with OS XP SP2. I have two operating systems on it as my old system crashed. How can I remove the old system? When I try to go to it, it shows a black screen with an error message and a load bar, which only loads to about 10%.

    Thanks so much!
    Thomas

==> How to edit the Boot.ini file in Windows XP

Please follow all steps in that link

Let me know how it goes

This is the one you want for XP Pro:

    --------------------

If Windows doesn't run at all, this may help as well:

Microsoft's Windows XP Professional Repair Install step by step
    http://www.windowsxpprofessional.windowsreinstall.com/sp2sp3installxpcdrepair/indexfullpage.htm

Microsoft's Windows XP Home Repair Install step by step
    http://www.windowsxphome.windowsreinstall.com/sp2sp3installxpcdrepair/indexfullpage.htm

    Or...

Microsoft's Windows XP Professional Repair Install step by step (* Including Delete Partition)
    http://www.windowsxpprofessional.windowsreinstall.com/sp2sp3installxpcdoldhdd/indexfullpage.htm

Microsoft's Windows XP Home Repair Install step by step (* Including Delete Partition)
    http://www.windowsxphome.windowsreinstall.com/sp2sp3installxpcdoldhdd/indexfullpage.htm

    * Warning deleting the Partition will remove all User data and Windows system files

That's what it shows in the boot log. What should I remove? Thanks.

Is C:\Windows your old system? (likely), or C:\WINNT ?

    Do this in Windows.
    Start-> Run-> %Windir% -> ok

If C:\WINNT opens up, then remove the line: multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn

If C:\Windows opens up, then remove the line: multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect

Thanks so much! My old system was C:\WINNT. I changed the boot log and it works great!

    Thanks again, Thomas
