how do i check my socket?

  1. does anyone know a program my friend can use besides cpu-z to check his computers socket he is not sure of his socket because he has a p4 and they make pentium 4s in socket 775 and socket 478

    Do you or he have an aversion to CPU-Z?

    I guess you could find a picture of each socket online and then open up your computer to look at it.

    he dosnt know how to take off his heatsinc hes afraid hed damage it and the reason i said bessides cpu-z is becuase it finds an error when he trys exttracting it hes downloaded it from multiple places

    Hmm. Can he extract other stuff? What OS does he have?

    Also, it might say it on the side of the socket. That's how it is with my old socket 7 motherboards anyway :D

    he has windows xp service pack 2 he can extract everything else juss not cpu-z any ways if u can find a program thats shows what socket is in his computer do share plz his sockket does not say the socket nummber
