how do i upgrade my bios

  1. i have a amd processor, 1.4Ghz sis735 mainboard( i hope) how do i download the correct files to upgrade it , my bios date is american megatrends release 08/27/2001 s. any help would be appreciated so i dont mess this up . also im running windows xp

    Go to your motherboard manufacturer's website and look for the proper update to your BIOS. There should be instructions on what to do with the file. Some offer a utility that will let you update it from within windows, some let you create a floppy and update it manually. This will vary from one manufacturer to another.
    What might you need to update the BIOS for anyway? You having some issue?

    it fails to shutdown , runs slow sometimes , pluss im getting redy to upgrade so i thought id like to learn and try to understand how to upgrade it ,

    how do i find out who makes my board my booklet says systemboard pc ddr266

    my booklet also says m830 series

    also under system info it says smbios version 2.3

    ok i have a m830 series with ver 1.1 i have downloaded the .rom file do i use the ami utility like aminf336 to execute it
