I read the post in Chipsets etc forum about rudimentary knowledge before you think about overclocking. But I have a program that uses DirectX 9.

Can I overclock my Radeon 9250 to make it DirectX 9 compatible.

If I can -- before I get to overclocking -- how do I work out my computers clock speed?

Overclocking cannot add hardware features that weren't built into the card, it can only speed up the speed of the card somewhat.
I'm pretty sure you can install direct x 9 on that card, it just might not support all the dx9 features.
