How do you image or copy a hard drive

  1. How do u image or copy a hard drive? I know i can use software like Ghost but I dont have a place to copy write the image too.

    I either need dos network drivers so i can copy it to another computer

    or

    I need a way to resize the partation there so i can make a new drive and copy the data to the new drive


    or

    i need image software that will try the image to the current drive

    Ghost and others can write to writable CD or DVD which is what many people do. Although you can easily repartition the drive to allow a backup partition, you should realise if the drive fails, the backup goes with it. In the case of two partitions, it only protects against OS corruption or limited read problems on the first partition. The better and faster solution all round is add a second hard drive and use that for image storing.
