How far have you OC:ed your ATI Radeon 8500?

So what did you do for step 3? Did you use RegCleaner to remove ONLY Cbt, Cds, and Desktop? Or did you remove ALL (Cbt, Cds, Desktop, MMC, Sushi Engine, HydraVision, Multimedia)?

    ...I'll blatantly guess "ALL"... :p

    oopsie

    Sorry bout the curses

Anyway, seems to me even with official drivers it never completely uninstall itself. Not even Nvidia do a nice job on the uninstall, just surprising cause you'd think so many people have complained about this.

On the "how to install the drivers" remove everything; It will be replaced by the new(er) drivers anyway...

And about the 40% improvement; That can be true because there has been a bug in MOH:AA which caused that slow down on the "snow level" ...so perhaps they fixed that and used some "nice wording" ;)

This is true Federelli, but it seems as though ATI might be picking up their slack. Plus, their cards seem to come with extra goodies and cost a little less. Nvidia needs to get on the ball with the GeForce 4's and get some serious performance out of them, else they'll really have ATI to deal with.

I have a quick question regarding the overclocking of the Radeon (not sure how to word it, but here goes):

Does overclocking the Radeon (or anything else for that matter) decrease the "lifetime" of the card? ...Will it go "bad" faster than not overclocking it? ....Does it wear the card out faster?

    ...Get what I'm asking?

Yes it will, a general "rule of thumb" is that if you decrease the temperature of a chip with 10C it will last twice as long.

And as you know when you overclock you increase the temperature and that's why you should get better cooling...

Edit: check out this post I dug up in our old forums:

Thanks, Per Hansson. Since Bobes said that the normal life of the card is around 20 years, I guess I'll keep it at 5 Mhz above normal. :D

Don't think about it in that way; Think like this, "how long is the warranty"

Because that is how long the manufacturer thinks most of their sold products will last...
