How to edit a PCX file

Hi Y'all

A quickie -- Is there any way to edit a PCX file with a paint program?

right click on the file->open with
what shows up?

if none, then just OPEN the file and you will get a prompt for the program
slide thru the list and pick the pgm you want to try
( be sure to CLEAR the box [] Use this aways )

That was the first thing I tried but since the only program I have is MS Paint, I already knew that the message, "this is not a valid bitmap file or its format is not supported, etc. " would come up. I looked online for a ultility to convert a PCX file to a BMP file but didn't find one. I guess the next step is to find a (hopefully free) graphics program that can support a PCX file.
