How to play Mini DV cassette tape

  1. Hello everyone,

I'm the network administrator at a small school in the midwest. Whenever anyone has a question that is remotely related to technology, I'm always the one they ask. However, the football coach came to me today and asked for my help. I told him I did not know the answer to his question but I would find out.

Question: Is it possible to play a Mini DV, TDK DVM60Me, cassette tape without using the camcorder?

I have the tape which is gameplay footage. Is it even possible?

    thanks,
    maX

I'm not sure that it is. Well it is, but you'd need specific equipment to play it back.

What you could do if you can get ahold of the camcorder again is connect it via firewire to a Mac or PC and then use iMovie or Windows Movie Maker to save it to an h264, mpeg2, mov, or wmv file depending on how you ultimately want to watch it. You could even burn it to a dvd.

No such adapter. Sorry. I'm assuming that the coach wants to put the Mini DV into an adapter and then slip the entire thing into a VCR. You'd have to do as SNGX1275 said.
