How to remove a pesky download?

    Recently I aborted a download to my desktop, but failed when I tried to delete it. The error message I got was this:"It is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using this file and try again". Trouble is I cannot find the program. How do I get rid of it?

    You could try booting into safe mode, and then trying to delete the file.

    What file is it?
